What lifts me? Helping others

Coalition for the Homeless_by Kelsey Montague
Do you ever just randomly hold the door open for someone, or give a tourist directions or take a few minutes out of your day to talk to your mom (even if you only have a few minutes to give while rushing across town to a meeting)? Something I’ve realized in my 20s is that kind acts do a hell of a lot more for your soul than any paycheck, fancy clothes or high powering friends. Coalition for the Homeless is one of those organizations I deeply believe in. In addition to being unfailingly kind, they have developed sustainable solutions to prevent homelessness and to assisting those caught in the cycle of homelessness. Check out their work here. They’re amazing.

Behind the Scenes – NYC street art

Hands down one of the most physically demanding projects I’ve done yet. Getting up on a large ladder, drawing vertical, a constant audience and non-stop for 7 hours racing both sun and clouds…but so so worth it;)

Enjoy these pics!

Laughing Man Coffee ♡

Laughing Man Angel Wings 3I wanted to focus on creating a positive discussion on what lifts you up with these wings. What inspires you, what do you do when you’re down or sad. As you guys know the piece is filled with New York images, some well known, others that were personal to me when I lived there.

I want to share a few things with you guys that lift me up. One is coffee.

Laughing Man quote

I know this is silly but without coffee I honestly would not function. Not sure if you’ve heard of Laughing Man but they’re a socially good coffee brand in NYC started by Hugh Jackman and David Steingard. Half of their proceeds goes to Laughing Man Worldwide an awesome business model that gives 100% of their profits to organizations and people in need around the world. Definitely check them out, their coffee is amazing and every dollar helps make a difference!

photo 1 (89)What a day it was last week. I was so excited but pretty damn nervous when I first started. The wall seemed impossibly big and just flat out overwhelming…but starting is always the hardest part right? It got easier once I dove into it.

^^ 4 hours in ^^

photo 3 (59)

After racing the sun and drawing non stop, it’s finished!! 7 hours, 40 paint pens, an awesome team from Mashable, sweltering heat, a sore drawing hand, my mom’s old painting overalls and a bunch of New Yorkers & tourists later…it was DONE! More pics coming soon ♡
