If you’re looking for the best bakery in New Zealand, I found it on my trip. Little Bird Organics specializes in creating good-for-you foods. Their ‘unbakeries’ are gorgeous cafes around the country that specialize in creating stunning, delicious raw cakes, bakery items and tartes.
The fine ladies at the UnBakery in Ponsonby made us three of the most stunning cakes and tartes we’ve ever seen. I can assure you these cakes taste as good as they look (yes that good)! If you’re ever in Auckland I highly recommend you stop by this wonderful place!
I was lucky to get to draw for a bit 88 floors above Melbourne. With incredible views and a clear floor underneath me it was a little scary but also very exhilarating. This shot was taken on The Edge ride – a completely transparent box that pushes you out past the main building 10 feet!
My poor sister, who is afraid of heights, had a really hard time getting these photos of me in The Edge but she pushed through (without puking!). Thanks sis.
I think that the Eureka Skydeck is the best place to see all of Melbourne, Australia in it’s glory.
I want to continue my ‘Best of Series.’ If you want the best chocolate chip cookie in LA go to Milk Jar Cookies on Wilshire. Most of the time these cookies come out of the oven, gooey, warm and delicious. These are melt in your mouth, I want another cookies. Go get up when you need a pick-me-up and I promise you’ll feel better.
N2 extreme gelato was our obsession while in Melbourne Australia last month. This place uses nitrogen to immediately freeze tasty gelato. They then add the yummiest, most creative toppings to each masterpiece they create (yep, that is a syringe of chocolate ganache).
We got the s’mores gelato because… well we are American 🙂
If you’re headed to Sydney or Melbourne anytime soon check out N2! In the meantime we will just beg the owner to consider opening up a few in the States!
Two of my favorites on the cover of Vogue Magazine this month! I love drawing on magazines, it’s a whole new challenge. Its amazing to contribute your creativity with an entire group of creatives right in front of you…the photographer, the makeup artist, the art director, the hair stylist and the fashion label.
I haven’t shared much of my magazine art with you guys but thought you would enjoy this one!
Over the next few weeks I’m going to share tips I learned during my trip to New Zealand and Australia.
The best hotel we (my sister and I) stayed at in Australia was, by far, The Cullen : Art Series Hotel Group in Prahran, Melbourne. It’s a stunning hotel with famous Aussie Artist Adam Cullen’s work on every wall. I wasn’t familiar with his work before I went to OZ but I love it. It’s colorful, genuine, creepy and thought provoking. It was incredible to be surrounded by art that spurred my own creativity during our time in Melbourne (oh and there is a Banksy on the outside of the hotel!).
The staff are awesome! They were always finding us food when we had to work until 10:30 PM and still hadn’t had dinner or organizing transport for us or giving us advice on what to see and do in the neighborhood.
The rooms rock. This is the kind of hotel that pays such close attention to detail that everything you need is at your fingertips. Forgot your toothbrush? No worries here is a toiletry kit. Dirty laundry? Would you like us to do it or would you like to use our washer and dryers on each floor? Starving? Try one of our 2 awesome restaurants or cook for yourself with the fully equipped kitchen in your room.
Thank you The Cullen for making our time in Australia so enjoyable!
(Art around every corner, including the lobby here)
(If only every hotel had a box of candy, a hand written note and a canvas with paint waiting for you when you enter your room)
(Hanging out with Banksy)(This was the empowering quote you saw everytime you entered the hotel)
