This is completely true folks and the One & Only Le Saint Geran has captured its own little section of heaven. In an effort to not forget a second of this incredible place, and to help new travellers, we’ve compiled this list of things to do and see while on the amazing island of Mauritius:
Hotel: Le Saint Geran has it own peninsula, which means one side faces the Indian Ocean and is stunning while the other side faces a lagoon perfect for all sorts of water sports. All rooms have an ocean view. Yep… you heard that right.
Drink: When you step into the lobby you are treated to Le Saint Geran’s ‘Welcome Drink,’ a refreshing blend of local fruit. It has the same effect as, I would imagine, a special potion does in a Harry Potter book. After a 20 hour flight to get to this beautiful place we immediately felt refreshed and revived after sipping this lovely elixir.
If you’re looking for stellar wine or fine cocktails- go no further than the restaurant bar, seated on top of the hotel’s pool with ocean and pool views.
Food: The buffet meals served in the main restaurant area are all very very good. Anyone can find just about anything that tickles their fancy. The Indian Pavillon on the other side of the resort boasts some stellar dhal!
But… if you want the best dining experience of your life…. you must go to Prime. It is absolutely shocking this restaurant does not have a Michelin star. The wine is exceptional (get the Escudo Rojo Chardonnay from Chile). The appetizers are so yummy – get the truffled meatballs if they are still there. But the steak…. oh the steak. One&Only has a farm in Australia where their cows are treated right (think music, think massages, think green grass) and that is reflected in the unparalleled taste of their steaks and associated dipping sauces. Do. Not. Miss. This. Dessert holds up to the rest of the meal – we recommend the make-your own tiramisu. But really… no matter what you get here you are going to be in heaven all over again.
Dancing: The best band in Mauritius regularly plays at Le Saint Geran- The Famous 9. If they are playing grab a drink, a seat and wear your dancing shoes. They aren’t to be missed (and neither is the dancing 🙂
